The Science Behind Bingco

Forensic Watermarking
Technology

Bingco utilizes a multi-layered forensic stack combining signal processing, cryptography, and distributed ledger technology to protect human creativity.

1. Invisible Frequency Watermarking

Unlike visible logos which can be cropped out, Bingco operates on the frequency domain of the image. We use a three-transform DWT + DCT + SVD algorithm — Discrete Wavelet Transform, Discrete Cosine Transform, and Singular Value Decomposition — embedding the signal in the image's frequency structure. On detailed images the hidden identifier can survive format conversion and light recompression. It does not survive resizing or cropping, and flat artwork such as logos and screen graphics often cannot carry it at all.

  • Invisible to the eye: The signal is embedded into the texture of the image, not the pixels you see.
  • Resistant to re-upload: On detailed images the hidden identifier can survive format conversion and light recompression. It does not survive resizing or cropping, and flat artwork such as logos and screen graphics often cannot carry it at all. It is most effective at detecting direct redistribution of your watermarked file.

2. The Cryptographic Fingerprint

We don't just store your file; we derive a unique fingerprint from its contents. This math-based link is what connects your physical file to the blockchain forever.

SHA-256 (File Hash)

This algorithm runs a math equation on every byte of your file. If even one pixel changes, the hash changes completely. This is the "Anchor Code" that appears on your certificate.

"Anyone can verify this link independently. Use any standard hash calculator to test your file—it will always produce the exact fingerprint recorded on the blockchain."

pHash (The Visual Match)

While SHA-256 proves the original file bit-for-bit, pHash recognizes the artwork's visual signature — matching copies through format conversion, heavy recompression, and resizing down to a quarter of the original dimensions.

"Together, SHA-256 and pHash give you two independent records of existence — one exact, one visual — both anchored to the same blockchain timestamp."

3. Dual-Layer Anchoring

Bingco writes both the SHA-256 hash and the pHash (Visual ID) directly to the Polygon Public Ledger.

  • Proof of Existence: Proves mathematically that you possessed this specific file at a specific UTC timestamp.
  • Format Resilience: Even if you lose your original file (breaking the SHA-256 link), the on-chain pHash still evidences that the image content existed at that timestamp.
  • Independent Verification: Even if Bingco disappears, the on-chain hash and timestamp remain on the public Polygon ledger permanently.

If someone anchors your work first

When you upload, we hash and timestamp the original independently of the blockchain anchor — creating a second record of when you protected it. If ownership is ever seriously challenged, keeping your own supporting files strengthens your case. That's on the artist to hold on to, not something we do for you.

A

Keep your own supporting files. Sketches, drafts, and layered project files you hold on to yourself are your strongest additional evidence — we don't ask for or store these supporting files, but they're hard for a bad-faith claimant to overcome.

B

Forensic Markers: Our invisible watermarks carry an identifier that resolves back to the asset record in our system, linking a recovered file to the upload it came from.

"Our forensic markers make a bad-faith anchor significantly harder to fake and much easier to challenge."

5. Active Defense

Our platform includes tools to actively hunt for stolen work and remove it. Bingco is subscription-only — we take no commission on any recovery or settlement.

Theft Scanner

Our crawling engine uses Reverse Image Search combined with our pHash technology to find unauthorized copies of your work across the clear web.

Automated Takedowns

When a match is found, our system auto-generates a legally compliant DMCA Takedown Notice, pre-filled with your blockchain evidence, existence timestamps, and hashes.

Signed Certificates

Download a professional PDF certificate for any asset, with its SHA-256 fingerprint and a QR code for instant verification. Anchored assets also carry their blockchain transaction hash.

6. Complete Secure Transfer

Safely deliver high-value assets to clients with a complete chain of custody. Every package is documented and carries your rights declaration, and is transferred over TLS and stored encrypted at rest until the link expires.

  • Rights file in every package: A BINGCO_RIGHTS.txt is injected into every delivery ZIP with your name, the recipient, delivery date, and an explicit AI training prohibition.
  • Premium access controls: Require a drawn signature before download, password protect the link, or stamp the recipient's name and a delivery reference diagonally across image and PDF files at download time — available on Creator and above. Bulk watermarking (one document sent to a list of recipients, each getting their own uniquely stamped copy) is Studio only.
  • Expiring encrypted links: Every delivery link auto-expires and the file is permanently deleted from our servers — no lingering access.

7. Professional License Agreements

Attach a custom license to every transfer. The agreement is between you and your recipient — they must accept your terms before the download is authorized. Bingco timestamps and records that acceptance, giving you a documented audit trail.

  • AI Training Prohibition — built in: Every license (Commercial, Personal, Exclusive, NDA) automatically includes a clause prohibiting use of your files to train any AI, machine learning, or generative model.
  • Digital Gatekeeping: Clients must explicitly accept your terms before the download is authorized — creating a documented acceptance record between you and your client.
  • Customizable contracts: Choose from Commercial, Personal, Exclusive, or NDA templates — all professionally drafted — or write your own terms entirely. Every contract is timestamped on acceptance.
  • Immutable Audit Trail: Every agreement is logged with a UTC timestamp — a permanent record of who accepted what, and when.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about forensic watermarking and blockchain copyright protection.

What is forensic watermarking?

Forensic watermarking embeds an invisible, unique identifier into your image using a three-transform DWT+DCT+SVD algorithm. Unlike a visible logo, it's imperceptible to the eye but detectable by our scanner — most reliably when your watermarked file is directly re-uploaded or reshared.

How is it different from a visible watermark?

A visible watermark can be cropped out or removed with editing tools. A forensic watermark is embedded into the mathematical frequency structure of the image itself — removing it without visibly degrading the image is computationally infeasible.

Can forensic watermarks survive compression or editing?

With nuance. On detailed images the hidden identifier can survive format conversion and light recompression. It does not survive resizing or cropping, and flat artwork such as logos and screen graphics often cannot carry it at all. The perceptual hash is the signal that reliably survives: it holds through format changes, recompression and resizing down to a quarter size. Cropping defeats both.

How does blockchain anchoring prove copyright?

Anchoring calculates a SHA-256 hash (exact file fingerprint), a pHash (visual fingerprint), and a UTC timestamp — and writes all three to the Polygon blockchain. This creates a public, immutable record establishing that that exact file existed and was anchored at that exact moment — verifiable by anyone, forever.
